Whispers Productions Dj Service was started back in 2000 by me… David Kerr! It started because of my love for music. I am a musician and at the time I quickly found out that all the gear that I wanted cost a small fortune. I already had a descent P.A. system and turntables and realized that I could have my equipment pay for itself by Djing a few gigs here and there. Let me tell you it was very humble beginnings. I started doing a few gigs for friends and family for free to gain experience. Soon after I made some business cards and my first paid event followed. Boy was I excited… my new venture was up and running! My first year I played at three weddings. I can say now with mild embarrassment that I was not the best Dj in the world… Nor the second. As a matter of fact I was quite a ways away. Like I said… “Humble Beginnings”. After practicing and getting experience for two years, my best friend Mickey for some reason was helping me out quite a bit for free. Finally one day my business sense kicked in… I finally offered Mickey a partnership in the business! ( A.K.A. – begged him and made false claims of instant riches! ) Little did I know of the wild journey we would be taking together. I soon found out that Mickey (My Best Bud) was the missing link! This is where Whispers Productions became a real business.
The first year Mickey and I worked together, my music hobby took a back seat because we were spending more money on equipment for a gig than we were getting paid for it. However, this paid off ten fold… we soon became a very respected and professional Dj service. Having the right equipment and ever growing experience, we strived to make each event a greater success than the one before. While working every job together to ensure it’s highest success we continued to invest each and every dollar we earned back into the business for two whole years!
As time went on and the word spread… Mickey (The Musical Dictionary!) & I soon found ourselves being double booked for events. So he and I both had separate jobs on the same day. WOW… this was like having twins (I think). This business that we call Whispers Productions, was no longer a secret! I can definitely say that it became it’s own monster really fast. Every week was a new adventure. Panama City Beach, Lynn Haven, Port St. Joe, Mexico Beach, Destin, Seaside… there was never a dull moment.
So… Here we are years later, with an impeccable reputation along the Emerald Coast for doing what we love to do. We have been blessed with being chosen by people like you to entertain… and we have had the honor of making friends with the best Dj’s, Event Planners, Resorts, & Photographers in the country. ( don’t let me even get started on the wonderful food I have tasted!!! WOW ) And so the story shall continue…
